Weekend Recap

Tuesday, May 29, 2018

Hey Everyone! I hope y'all had a great weekend. We had a few little adventures, but the rain kept us in at the end of the weekend. It also rained on a few of our plans.

Our weekend started out with a busted lip on Friday night...

On Saturday, we woke up bright and early and headed to Sevierville, TN. We had plans to check out the Flea Market and do some shopping.

We came across the cutest Sugar Gliders. They were so sweet. I tried to talk Eric into bringing one home, but our cat, Izzie, would have beat it up.

The Twins LOVED petting them. Logan called them "Hamsners".

We found some homemade beef jerky and boiled peanuts. Everyone was shocked I skipped the boiled peanuts and went for the jerky. Once I heard homemade cajun jerky, I was a goner. Logan also loved the "beef turkey".

We hit the outlet stores and came home with some new tennis shoes.

We ended our trip at the best restaurant in Sevierville... The Apple Barn!

The kids enjoyed being able to watch the birds from our table, but they had to get closer.

Finally, we stopped at the mall on the way home for Eric to be fitted for a tux. He's in a friend's wedding soon.

The kids enjoyed playing on the rides.

Then someone didn't enjoy waiting on daddy...

On Sunday, it was a very slow day. We relaxed, napped, and caught up on some household chores.

Daddy left to go pick up some breakfast, and it was this one's turn to throw the fit. She was not happy she didn't tell Daddy bye twice,  just once.

I ran to the store and got all the ingredients to make Taco Dip for our cook out on Monday. If you missed my Friday post, you need to check out the Taco Dip.

I enjoyed the Gilmore Girls marathon while fixing the Taco Dip.

Our Monday plans were put on hold until later in the week. It was constant rain and flash flooding. That doesn't make for great BBQ weather and swimming.

This is after the weather actually slacked off. 😒

I hope everyone had a great and safe weekend!!

Kindle Review

Friday, May 18, 2018

Hi, my name is Ally and I’m addicted to reading. 🙋

If you know me personally, you know how much I love to read. I can sit down and read an entire book in one day. I’ve been known to read two-three books over a weekend, and I’ve always have a book queued up in my Kindle app for on the go.

I use to be one of these people that had to have the actual book in hand. I tried reading on my iPad when I first got it, but failed miserably. I craved the turning of the actual page, the smell of a new book, the ratification of seeing how much I have read and how many more pages to go.

Once we had the twins, being able to read became harder and hard. I would sit my book down for one second, and instantly my page would be lost. I’ve paid for at least two books at the local library that were destroyed. Not to mention, the heavy weight of carrying a book around in my purse on top of all the junk I already carry. This was also about the time I discovered Kindle Unlimited.

Can I hear an AMEN! for Kindle Unlimited?? HECK YEAH! If you have not tried Kindle Unlimited yet, do yourself a favor and take advantage of the free trial offer. Once I discovered KU, I was able to have my book with me at all times right on my phone via the Kindle App. Ya’ll, it was a game changer. No more lost pages, no more hauling around books, nothing. If I had a minute or so while waiting somewhere, I could easily pull up my Kindle App (since, of course, my phone is sitting in my hand) and read a few pages of my book. LIFE CHANGING!

Well, I had been drooling over the actual Kindle devices, but never wanted to invest that type of money into one. We were at the beach last year, and I had to carry several books with me because I could not ready my phone on the beach. Ugh! #firstworldproblems

Back in January I ran across a really great deal on a Kindle Paperwhite. I could not pass it up.
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

Let me tell you, it is a GAME CHANGER! I can read it out in the sun, download multiple books at a time, and just throw it in my purse. Its super light weight and easy to travel. My favorite part? I can still use the Kindle App on my phone. It automatically syncs together, so i'm always on the right page no matter which one I use.

This is the perfect travel companion for those up coming trips this summer. Just throw it in your carryon, and you are set to go.

Life Lately

Thursday, May 17, 2018

Well, it has been an extremely long time since this little blog of mine has any activity. Life has been completely crazy, but I think it has finally settled enough and given us a better routine to where I finally have time to devote towards the blog.

I’m a super major blog junkie. I start my day reading my favorite blogs and continue throughout the day. Every time I read another blog post, I’m like "this is what I want to be doing". I want my children to be able to look back in the future and be able relive our memories through Mom’s blog. Trust me, if they want a homemade scrap book of their lives, they will be waiting longer than it has taken for this blog has to come together.

I think the best place to begin is by doing a little Life Lately catch up. Summer is coming in full swing, and I don’t know about you, but my kiddos are ready to be out of school. We have a few trips and activities planned for this summer. Looking at the calendar, and it already looks busy.

We had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend. We relaxed, grilled out, enjoyed our first swim of the season, and celebrated a birthday and graduation.

Rousey was really enjoying the pool. She was running in and out. 😊

So… This one is in her last week of 5th grade and will be heading to Middle School in the fall. I find myself daily asking how this is even possible. It seems like yesterday she as running around in a princess dress and heels asking for lip gloss. She is super excited for summer.

She has plans of trying out for the middle school volleyball team. She’s been

practicing daily and even wants to attend a camp at the end of June.

These two are down to their final day of Mother’s Day Out. They are so excited to be attending Pre-K in August and going to school five days a week. They cannot wait to be big like their sister, Skylar. However, I’m not really sure who’s more excited about Pre-K… them or their Nana. (She keeps them every day for us.)

In preparation for Pre-K, we have officially stopped all naps. We are enjoying it so much. Bedtime has not been a struggle this week. By 8:30 they are snoozing away. (Be sure and ask me this weekend if we are still enjoying it…haha)

I hope you enjoyed the small update. Check back soon for more updates! 😊
